Welcome to the Rest of Your Life

musings of a person with too much time on their hands

Always the last to find out...

I got a call last night from my aunt, telling me that the wedding that I was supposed to go to this weekend is off. The wedding I went through leaps and bounds to make it to. The wedding I spent $800 airfare plus $200 gift money on. The wedding that has been off since last week but no one bothered to tell me until last night. The wedding that now I have to call the airline and the store and try and get a refund because it's off. CHEATERS NEVER PROSPER, LADIES AND GENTS. That goes for the both of you.

My Dream Project
[info]devil_details
As you begin to live your life, you begin to have certain things that you want to achieve. Maybe it's going skydiving or buying a house or having your own reality show. For me, it's been writing my own screenplay.

Let me begin by saying that I have always been a movie buff for as long as I can remember. Old, new, good, bad, foreign or American-made, I love movies. It's been my dream to write and actually finish a full-blown screenplay but I've never had the time or the drive or even the idea. But now that I look at it I think to myself, I need to do this. If Diablo Cody and Ben Affleck can win Oscars, so should I.

Last Wednesday I finally started working on that goal; as of today I'm already on Page 22. I've found that I work quicker and better at night. (is that at all normal?) Anyways, I want to know about your goals, your dream project. It can be big or little or merely a bit medium but I would really like to hear about it. Also, if you've got any screenwriting advice or tips, pass it on. It'd be mucho appreciated.

Mucho Love,
K.

P.S: Is it normal and/or legal for an airfare website to add additional charges after you've bought the ticket?

It's all just a little bit of history repeating

Fox News veteran producer Gresham Striegel has left the network, and this week began a new job at MSNBC.

Striegel, who worked 13 years at FNC on programs ranging from "The Crier Report", to "Your World with Neil Cavuto," to "Fox & Friends," was most recently the senior producer on FNC's second-most popular show, "Glenn Beck".

TVNewser has learned Beck's team was trying to push out the veteran producer who insiders tell us was loyal and well-liked. But Striegel, who was turned off by the treatment, left the network a few weeks ago on his own terms and in good stead.

He's now an executive producer across the street -- literally -- at MSNBC where this week he has been producing for David Shuster and will eventually settle in to overseeing two dayside hours.

TO ALL THE HATERS AT WORK

Valid questions on my mind
[info]devil_details
1. Why is it so fucking cold outside? I mean, seriously? I could handle the snow, I'm almost used to the snow, but why is it like fucking Alaska outside? Is it the same where you guys are?

2. To all the Netflix subscribers: Do the words "very long wait" next to a movie title give you the shivers?

3. Now that my boss has given the okay for me to go to North Carolina for my cousin's wedding, what the fuck do I get as a wedding present? Do I stick with the whack registry (a $1200 Williams-Sonoma set) or do I give her something heartfelt and more importantly, cheap?

4. Is it normal to dream episodes of Glee during this long long hiatus? Either way, my episode 14 is way better than anything we'll see on April 13.

5. I just realized I had perfect work attendance for 2009 (not counting vacation days). Can anyone else here say that they didn't miss a day of work last year?

6. What one pop culture event defined the decade that just passed?

7. Miley Cyrus: The new Julia Roberts or the new Alicia Silverstone?

8. What is on your Oscar prediction list for Best Picture?
Mine:
Avatar
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglorious Basterds
Invictus
The Messenger
Nine (as much as I hate to admit it)
Precious
Up
Up in the Air

9. Why did Nine suck? And when I'm in my fifties and channelsurfing through HBO, will I see this movie again and appreciate it in a new light? Will anyone?

10. What do you think was the last GREAT (not good) movie Spielberg ever made?

11. Why am I typing this at 11:30 at night when I have to be at work at 6:30?

Is it too much to ask for some damn pancakes?

First post of 2010 and I'm starting off the year pissed off; for what I don't even know.

I just found out that my boss wants me to work on February 13. You're wondering, isn't that just another day of the week? Well, it also falls on the day of my cousin's wedding in North Carolina.

Once I found out and stopped raging, I thought to myself, Should I tell my boss no? Do I even have enough pull to even say no? What if I say yes to my boss and then my cousin will never speak to me again? What if I say yes to my cousin and then I get fired? What if I'm just panicking for no reason? I'm really stumped.

So, I'm going to leave it up to you? What the fuck do I do?
